1、商務(wù)合同在國際經(jīng)濟(jì)交流中扮演著重要角色，其典型特點是高頻使用情態(tài)動詞來表示當(dāng)事人的權(quán)利或義務(wù),合同中任何失真或含糊其詞都會引起法律糾紛。為了確保商務(wù)合同中情態(tài)動詞的翻譯準(zhǔn)確性，本文以翻譯目的論作為理論框架，在之前眾學(xué)者研究商務(wù)合同的基礎(chǔ)上，以高頻使用的情態(tài)動詞作為研究對象，運用目的論三原則對翻譯實踐中遇到的實例進(jìn)行研究分析，總結(jié)發(fā)現(xiàn)翻譯目的論可以作為一個新視角來指導(dǎo)商務(wù)合同中情態(tài)動詞的翻譯。
本文首先從分析商務(wù)合同的語言特點（
2、詞匯特點和文體特點）入手，引出標(biāo)志性特點——情態(tài)動詞的高頻使用，進(jìn)而依據(jù)情態(tài)動詞的各種語用功能對其進(jìn)行分類；然后綜述其他學(xué)者從語言學(xué)不同角度對商務(wù)合同、情態(tài)動詞的研究從而指出翻譯目的論的獨特之處，即著重強(qiáng)調(diào)譯語的預(yù)期目的；其次，作者將目的論及其三原則應(yīng)用到翻譯實踐實例中，針對情態(tài)動詞出現(xiàn)的不同句型結(jié)構(gòu)選擇不同的譯語，包括多用于肯定句的must/shall/may/will,多用于否定句的may not/shall not以及用于兩個特殊
